Sri Prasanna Venkateshwara Perumal temple, Thirumalai Vaiyavoor

About the temple

The aadhi moorthy of this temple is Sri Varaha Perumal and the presiding deity is Srinivasa perumal. There are three entrances in the temple- the first one to Varahar and other sannadhis, the second one for Srinivasa perumal, thayar and andal sannadhis and the third one with a big gopuram for Chakratazhwar and Narasimhar and Sri Vedantha desikar. Sri Ramanuja is said to have prayed to the Lord and also meditated here. One can climb the steps or even reach the top by vehicle. There is a small road in not so good condition but definetely motorable. To reach by vehicle one has to travel a little further after the steps begin and take a right at the Amman temple on the road.

The Lord looks stunning and very similar to Srinivasa perumal at Thirumala.
How to reach

Buses going to Vedanthangal from Chennai pass through the temple. Alternatively you can take a bus going on GST road, get down at Padalam Cross road and take an auto/share auto to the temple. Since the frequency is very less it would be ideal to take your own vehicle or hire a taxi and cover Thirumalai vaiyavoor, Sri Varadaraja perumal temple at Arasar kovil and Madhurantakam Eri Katha Ramar temple in half a day. You can even visit the famous Vedanthangal sanctuary nearby. While travelling from Chennai on the GST look for the board directing to Vedanthangal after Chengalpet. Take a right turn there and you can see the temple as well as Ramanuja Yogavanam temple on the way. It is approximately 70 kms from Chennai.
