About the temple

This is one of the most ancient temples in Chennai. It is very easily accessible through the IT expressway-Rajiv Gandhi salai. The presiding deity is Srinivasa perumal and gives darshanam in standing posture. The lord looks stunning with all the decorations. There are small sannadhis in the praharam.

How to reach

Buses plying on the OMR (Old mahabalipuram road) to Kelambakkam pass through the temple. The temple is on the left side while coming from Adyar after Satyabama University and before Navalur.

Specialty of the temple

The temple is said to be a prarthana sthalam for unmarried people and childless couples. Also it is said that if one offers sincere prayers at this temple, they can get back their lost vision.

Temple timings

The temple is open from 7am-11am in the mornings and 4pm-8pm in the evenings.

Nava Pashanam - Devipattinam, Ramanathapuram district

About the temple

Nava bhasanam at Devipattinam  is a small coastal village about 15 kms from Ramanathapuram. It is said that Sri Ram had prayed to the Nava grahas here by placing nine stones prior to going to war at Lanka. It is increasingly getting popular among devotees who visit the nearby temples of Rameshwaram and Thirupullani.

The nine stones representing the Nava grahas or nine planets can be seen few metres into the sea. However depending on the water levels one may get to see all or few of them.

Devotees perform pooja here with navadhanyam to please the nine planets.

How to reach
It is about 15 kms from Ramanathapuram and buses going to Karaikudi stop at Devipattinam. The shore is walkable from the bus stop.

Aadhi Keseva Perumal temple, Mylapore - Chennai

About the temple

This temple is located in Mylapore (Near Chitra Kulam), the avatara sthalam of Peyazhwar. Adi keseva perumal temple and Vedantha desika devasthanam are adjacent to each other.

Keseva is supposed to have appeared here to free the rishi’s from Asuras and legend says that this perumal has given shapa vimochanam to sun and moon gods.

It is believed that some centuries back there was a rivulet –neerodai called Kairavani that bridged Mylapore with Triplicane. The priests sailed in neerodai from Mylapore to Triplicane to perform pooja to Lord Parthasarathy. To reiterate the connection that existed between the two localities Peiazhwar one of the 12 azhwars who incarnated in Mylapore visits Lord Parthasarathy every year and propitiates him. This event occurs in September every year.

Thus in Kairavani neerodai Peiazhwar incarnated on a Lily in the 7th century. .Since he incarnated in the neerodai a part of it has been converted into a well which is preserved till date. This holy well is in Arundale Street, Mylapore. Gardens, houses and other buildings have appeared on the other parts of the neerodai.

Thirukkovilur utsavam in tamil month of aypasi is celebrated in this temple.

Brahmotsavam is held during the tamil month of PANGUNI.

Every friday vilva archana is performed to mayuravalli thayar as it vouchsafes health wealth and longevity.

How to reach

Catch up a bus to Mylapore tank stop from any corner of chennai.. Take the South Mada street till u reach Chitrakulam. This temple is very near to chitra kulam in Mylapore and adjacent to Sri Vedantha Desika devasthanam. Thirumayilai is the nearest metro station.
