About the temple

Paatalaadri Narasimhar is the presiding deity and appears as ugra narasimhar with lakshmi in the chest, the conch, sudharsana chakra and abhayaa hastham in one hand. The Utsavar is known as Prahalada Varadar and has a maze in the hand. It is a cave temple believed to be built by the Pallavas. Giri Pradakshinam is popular among the devotees.

 About the temple

The presiding deity of the temple is Sri Varadaraja perumal. However the temple is more popular as the temple for Sri Yoga Hayagreevar who blesses the devotees with education and knowledge. The moolavar is Sri Varadaraja perumal while the utsavar is known as Devanatha perumal. The thayar here is known as Hemabuja nayagi. There is a seperate shrine for Rama, Lakshmanan, Sita and Hanuman.

How to reach

The temple is about 50 kms from Chennai and around 5-6 kms from Singaperumal koil. Travelling on the GST from Chennai, take the right just opposite Mahindra City gate after Singaperumal koil. Cross the railway gate and continue straight on the road for about 3-4 kms. Once you reach the village you need the take a left and the temple is on a small lane in the right side. The nearest station is Singaperumal koil on the Chennai Beach-Chengalpet route.

Specialty of the temple

Lord Hayagreevar's utsava moorthy is also seen in the main sannadhi in a yogic pose with folded legs and students pray here during examinations with pencils, hall tickets and books to get good results.

The idols of Devanadha perumal and Yoga Hayagreeva are believed to have been brought from Thiruvendhipuram divyadesam to protect them from invasions several years back.

Temple timings

The temple is open from 8 am to 12 noon in the mornings and from 4 pm to 7.30 pm in the evenings.

About the temple

The temple is on the banks of the Palar river. The presiding dieties are Kamala Varadaraja perumal and Sundara Mahalakshmi. However renovations are going on in the temple to replace the main sannadhi of Varadaraja perumal with a new structure and hence darshan is not possible for the lord. You can however worship Mahalakshmi here who is said to be very powerful and special. It is more popular as Mahalakshmi temple and if case you need to ask the route you can mention the same.

How to reach

Travelling on the GST road from Chennai you come across Padalam cross road after Chengelpet. Take a left turn here (boards before this junction will indicate a right turn towards vedanthangal). Keep going on the road to cross the railway track and continue to reach Arasar koil..from GST the temple would be around 6-7 kms. The temple is on the left side. By train Padalam station is the nearest.

Speciality of the temple

Sundara mahalakshmi is said to be the mother of all the 64 forms of Lakshmi. 

Sundara Mahalakshmi has 6 fingers on the right leg and 6 is shukra's number. So Mahalakshmi is said to control Shukra's powers to bestow prosperity.

Shukra is said to pray to the goddess here every friday.
