Navratri Golus 2011

This Navratri season has been really busy and here are some of the golus I saw - two of them in houses and the rest from Anantha Padmanabha swamy temple, Marundeeswara temple, Durga Pooja celebrations and Madhya Kailash temple in Adyar-Thiruvanmiyur area

Navratri Golu at Anantha Padmanabha temple, Adyar-Chennai


Located in Gandhinagar 2nd main road, close to Adyar signal the temple is very popular among the residents of Adyar and Thiruvanmiyur area. The presiding deity is Sri Anantha Padmanabha swamy as in Trivandrum. The kodi maram, vimanam and three doors of the main sanctum are covered with gold. The other sannadhis are Garudan, Anjaneya, Sudharsana, Narasimha, Amman and Utsava moorthies in a seperate sannadhi. There are also Nava graha sannadhi and Peepal tree below which there are small idols of Ganesha, Shiva and Krishna. The Brahmotsavam is celebrated in a grand manner during the month of February.



Ashta dikka golu at Triplicane Sri Parthasarathy temple, Chennai

A very beautiful and huge golu has been set up for the first time at the rear entrance of Sri Parthasarathy temple in Triplicane, Chennai. The Astha dikku golu ( can be seen from 8 sides) is based on Vishnu's 10 avatars and is a delight to golu lovers.
